Smile Begginer Question

Hey, I am new on Guild Wars and I have just made a warrior. I have not chosen my 2nd class yet either. I was wondering what I should use my skill points on and what 2nd class I should pick. I want to try and get the most out of my character.

Basically, you need to decide what sort of Warrior you want to be - Sword, Axe, or Hammer. This may depend upon what weapons you have and what skills you've obtained so far. (And you can change at any time.)
So, mostly, at this point (beginner) you should put your Attribute points into whatever weapon line you want to go for (Sword, Axe, Hammer Mastery) and Strength or Tactics (depends upon what skills you have, but also, Strength has an "inherent" effect).
As far as secondary class goes, I'd recommend to start with Monk. Basically when you start out you have a limited number of Attribute points and it's best to just concentrate on the Warrior part of your character. Monk as a secondary will allow you to bring a rez skill rather than a signet, and maybe a self-heal - don't put anything other than 'left-over' points into Monk attributes, and don't try to be a "monk" in the sense of trying to heal others.
Farther into the game, after you've gotten more Attribute points, skills, and weapons, and have a better idea of what you want, you will be able to change your secondary profession.

I would try them all. Find one you like the best. You will probably find yourself changing from time to time depending on what you are doing and types of enemies you are facing.

Don't worry about your skill points, you will eventually have more than you could ever use. Since your still in pre-searing most you your skills will come as quest rewards and you won't be needing the skill points for a little while.

Once you have some of the basic sword, axe, and hammer skills, and have tested each out, you should have a better understanding what what you like. You can then use your skill points to pick up more skill in the attribute you like best.

I would go with monk secondary. You can always change later, but W/Mo is a very good decision to start with.

I think I will use the advice I got. I don't understand what builds are or how they work or anything.

A "build" is any set of 8 skills that you have on your skill bar at any given time. For Warriors, there are "builds" that are going to use either Axe, Hammer, or Sword skills. This is because when it comes to attributes, it's much more effective to have, for example, 12 in Axe and 12 in Strength as opposed to 9 in Axe, 9 in Hammer, and 12 in Strength. Plus, that would involve switching weapons and putting skills in your build from two different weapons... while it may seem attractive to someone who hasn't used decent builds before, it's a waste in most cases.

So you can pick either Sword, Axe, or Hammer at any time, and you can switch at any time. I like having "builds" saved for each weapon and depending on situation or just what I feel like playing I can switch between them.

As for secondary profession, it will mostly be defined by your build. I think someone already linked PvX (www.pvxwiki.com) ... it's a website that tells you what attributes and skills you should bring for a good build. You can choose to modify these or make your own, but while you're learning, using PvX builds is a good way to find out what skills are good, what skills work well together, and how to split up your attribute points.

Sorry for the long post, just trying to be thorough.

Go to our Campfire section to the Warrior subforum. There is a guide there that explains how to play a warrior.

check out the warrior forum here and also check out PvXwiki for different builds, what to equip and how to use them. I would suggest the dragon slash or hundred blades builds which btw doesnt use any secondary skills, so pick whichever second you think sounds interesting. once you ascend/ do Hunted! or Closer to the stars missions, you can change your secondary as many times as you want (for a fee) so play around and have fun!

I would have to disagree. Having a build that doesn't focus on keeping yourself alive and actually dealing damage is much better. I would end up choosing elementialist for conjure flame/frost/lightning. As for the best type of warrior? There isn't really one. Dragonslash spamming sword, Eviscerate axe and Knocklock hammer warriors are pretty good along with a few other builds like endurance spammers etc. I would just check http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page for good builds like most people end up doing.
